Even on a rainy day we have entertainment in the coach!
Look what was right outside our front window. (click to make a photo bigger)
I sat in the driver’s seat and shot these through the window!
Check out the white portion of the body at one end, then black toward the tail (or fluke).
What is amazing to me is that the water is deep enough so close to shore for the whales to play. We saw whales last summer in Resurrection Bay, Seward, Alaska, and I KNOW it is deep enough, because it’s a fjord, but WOW, your photos are very awesome!
Exactly, Carole…the bay apparently has a fairly deep floor right up close to shore, which is why it forms such nice waves all the time!
These are whales migrating up toward you for the summer…on their way from calving off Mexico. The babies cause them to pause periodically, and the young ones will frolic. They’re closer to shore because of the babies, we’re told.
Hope that picture wasn’t a fluke! Ha Ha. Great shot, how did you get him to stand on his head? Have never mastered that technique! Have many more great days…TLC
I was really surprised they were so close to shore, Tom, so the pics really are a fluke!
